Positano – The Most Instagrammable Spots

Positano is the kind of place where every corner feels like it was made for a postcard. Perched on the cliffs of Italy’s Amalfi Coast, this charming village is a magnet for photographers and travelers alike, thanks to its pastel-colored buildings, stunning sea views, and romantic atmosphere. But if you’re looking for the absolute best spots to capture the essence of Positano for your Instagram feed, here’s a curated list of five unmissable locations. These spots combine breathtaking views, authentic charm, and that irresistible Italian vibe — so get your camera ready!

1. Delicatessen

While Delicatessen is primarily known as a local produce shop located on Via dei Mulini, it’s the rooftop on Via Cristoforo Colombo that makes it a hidden gem for photographers. The rooftop is adorned with the colorful ceramic plates and vases that Positano is famous for, creating a vibrant and artistic backdrop for your photos.

When I visited, the rooftop was closed, but I’ve seen stunning pictures taken from the terrace, so it’s worth asking if you can pop in when the shop is open. If you’re lucky, you might even leave with a beautiful ceramic souvenir to remember your trip by. The mix of rustic charm and artistic flair makes this spot a must for anyone looking to add some authentic Italian character to their Instagram feed.

2. Positano Viewpoint

You can’t visit Positano without stopping at the famous Positano Viewpoint on Via Cristoforo Colombo. If you’re arriving by bus, you’ll practically stumble upon it — it’s just a few steps from the bus stop.

From this vantage point, you’ll get an iconic view of Positano’s pastel-colored houses stacked vertically against the cliffs, cascading down toward the sea. The main beach, Spiaggia Grande, adds to the scene, with its colorful umbrellas and sparkling blue water. The natural framing of the cliffs and sea creates a picture-perfect setting. Pro tip: Visit early in the morning or around sunset for the best lighting.

3. Terrazza Celè

Positano is full of restaurants with jaw-dropping views, but Terrazza Celè stands out as one of the most picturesque. You can visit for a leisurely lunch or just stop by for a drink. Either way, you’re in for a treat.

The terrace overlooks the sparkling Mediterranean sea, with Positano’s colorful buildings climbing up the cliffs behind you. The stylish settings and intimate atmosphere make it an ideal spot for a romantic photo or a chic lifestyle shot. Try to grab a table near the edge for an uninterrupted view. And don’t forget to snap a shot of your Aperol or Limoncello Spritz with the sea in the background for that quintessential Italian vibe.

4. Spiaggia Grande

Spiaggia Grande is Positano’s main beach and an absolute classic when it comes to Instagram spots. Its lively atmosphere, vibrant beach umbrellas, and backdrop of colorful houses create a visually stunning scene.

One of the best perspectives is from the area in front of Rada Positano. This spot allows you to capture the beach, the town, and the cliffs in one sweeping shot. Keep in mind that the beach is busiest during the day, so if you want to get that clean, uninterrupted shot, head there early in the morning before the crowds arrive. Bonus tip: The golden light at sunset also creates a magical effect, perfect for those dreamy vacation shots.

5. Franco’s Bar

No visit to Positano is complete without a sunset cocktail at Franco’s Bar. Also located on Via Cristoforo Colombo, this chic open-air bar is one of the hottest spots in town. It opens daily at 5 PM, but if you want to secure a front-row seat for the sunset, start queuing at least 30 minutes before.

The bar offers a front-row view of the sunset over the Amalfi Coast, and you’ll even get a complimentary serving of popcorn to enjoy as you watch the sun dip below the horizon. There’s a minimum spend of 40 euros for the front-row tables. But, the view and atmosphere are worth every penny.

Final Thoughts on Positano

Positano is a photographer’s paradise, with its charming streets, colorful buildings, and breathtaking sea views. Whether you’re sipping a cocktail at Franco’s Bar or catching the morning light on Spiaggia Grande, every corner offers a new opportunity to capture that perfect shot. So grab your camera (or phone), explore these stunning spots, and let the beauty of Positano fill your Instagram feed with pure Italian magic.
